Mute Math - Typical
I hope this makes you love this band as much as I do.

I never do this, so please bear with me. I think I may have found what people always call a “life verse.” Meaning that this bible verse seems to really apply to my life. (Strange. That never happens. I’m glad we have a corny piece of jargon to identify that bizzare occurence. Anyways.) I read this last week and then again this morning, and thought it was really cool. I don’t have tons of time to expound on it, but that’s okay. I think words from God can do without my elaboration. (I suppose.)
2 Thessalonians 1:11
“With this in mind, we constantly pray for you, that our God may count you worthy of His calling, and that by His power He may fulfill every good purpose of yours and every act prompted by your faith.”
Just something about God fulfilling the purposes (pursuits?) of our lives that strikes me as…well, cool.
I am sitting in my green School of Worship basketball shorts. No more, no less. Nothing above, and nothing below (wink!) I just woke up from a 3 hour nap, during which I would occasionally drift out of sleep, look up at the clouds moving over my skylight, listen to a few minutes of the currently playing Sigur Ros track, and then fall back asleep. I just turned on an episode of The Office, and I may go buy more Lucky Charms. That is…it.
“Why did the convict have to be a black guy? That is just such a stereotype.”~Michael Scott
I just had a great shower. Sometimes they are just better than others. Does anyone know what I mean? It was amazing. It started, like all showers do, with what I ignorantly call the “Splash.” This is the first 2 seconds or so of water to hit you. The Splash is all of the water that was left sitting in the pipes and showerhead after the last run, and is now freezing cold. The Splash is the first to hit you, and it hits hard. I used to dread the splash, and would avoid it by either running the water while standing outside the shower or, if I forget about the Splash for a second, blocking its attack with my upturned palm while ducking away with my neck. But now I live for the Splash. I love the Splash. I steel myself and wait for the invigorating, albeit brief rush that comes with it. But standing up to the Splash requires some strategic positioning. I keep my feet evenly spread apart, locked at the knees and aligning my body in front of the faucet, chest at the exact level and angel to absorb the brunt of the Splash. (I like to think that if I were ever to intentionally take a bullet for someone, it would look similar to this.) I also make sure that my arms are prepared to stand against the shudders that try to sneak in at the point of impact. I like to keep my elbows cemented at a perfect 90 degree angle. 110 degrees would denote arrogance and enrage the Splash, but 45 says I’m a pussy and then the Splash would walk all over me. 90 is the way to go. I then grit my teeth and clench my lower jaw. This sends a clear message that I am in fact here for confrontation, and have no intention of even trying to dodge the attack. This will shake the confidence of the Splash, and cause it to completely shatter and disperse against my sternal region. Once the Splash is defeated, the showerhead falls into line and dispenses a torrent of delightful hot water for my enjoyment.
And THEN I found the same bottle of cheap cologne that I got when I was 16. So know I’m reliving High School vicariously through scent. And I smell GOOD.
I really love my mondays. Yes, I’m aware that is now Tuesday. But I didn’t get a chance to blog yesterday, so deal. Mondays are interesting days for me. I never work on mondays, because I play guitar down at NewLife church in the evening, and with an afternoon rehearsel time, I’m not available for any shifts. So I take the day off and relax! A strange concept these days. Yesterday was a good one. I met my girlfriend Ricci at her parent’s house for breakfast. This is always a good time, and is definitely a tradition now. We made french toast and listened to Ben Folds. As I said, a good time. Then we headed into Parker, where I at long last (7 months in debt) paid off my overdrawn checking account! Financial freedom will be sweet while it lasts (not long.) Then we dropped by my apartment for Macaroni & Cheese paired with PB+J. Amazing. It was like being in kindergarten again, only a lot better without the smells and with kissing. Then I headed down to the Springs. If you don’t know, the springs is my second home. I got to meet my friend Danny early to have a good “accounatbility” discussion. I think that all guys dread having an accountability parnter, and I did, but now it is a great part of my week, knowing that I can get things off my chest and not be judged. Having a friend there to help get crap out of my life is really amazing. Anyways, I realize that my blogging lately has been pretty scattered, so I’m just updating you on what was a great monday!
this is kind of how I always imagined this song. great storytelling by my man.
Imogen Heap is, simply put, one of the most brilliant musical minds I’ve seen/heard in a long, long time. Her voice is completely breathtaking.
I’m all over the place right now. I have a lot going on, but can’t get it all through my mind right now. All I know is that you shouldn’t watch Kill Bill Vol. 2 when you’re in an emotional state. I am on the verge of a breakdown watching Bebe interact with her mommy for the first time. Anyways. This makes me happy.
